Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Remote Online Notary (RON) Questions

What is a Remote Online Notary (RON)?

A Remote Online Notary is a commissioned notary public authorized to notarize documents online using secure audio-visual technology. This means you can have documents notarized from anywhere using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

How does Remote Online Notarization work?

  1. Schedule your remote notarization session
  2. Join a secure video call at your scheduled time
  3. Verify your identity with valid ID
  4. Review and sign your documents electronically
  5. Receive your notarized documents immediately

What documents can be notarized remotely?

Many document types can be notarized remotely, including Power of Attorney documents, affidavits, loan documents, real estate documents, and various legal documents. Contact us to confirm if your specific document type can be notarized remotely.

What do I need for a remote notarization?

  • Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • Device with camera and microphone (smartphone, tablet, or computer)
  • Stable internet connection
  • Documents in digital format (PDF preferred)

Is remote notarization secure?

Yes, remote notarization uses secure audio-visual technology, identity verification processes, and encrypted document transmission to ensure the security and validity of your notarized documents.

Mobile Notary Questions

What is mobile notary service?

Mobile notary service means our notary public comes to your location to notarize your documents, saving you time and eliminating the need to travel to a notary office.

What areas do you serve for mobile notary?

I serve a 25–30 mile radius around Chantilly, including:

  • Fairfax County: Chantilly, Centreville, Fairfax, Vienna, Reston, Herndon
  • Loudoun County: Ashburn, Sterling, Leesburg, Dulles
  • Prince William County: Manassas, Woodbridge, Dumfries
  • Surrounding areas: Arlington, Alexandria, and beyond on request

Not sure if I cover your address? Send me a message and I’ll confirm before you book.

What documents can be notarized by mobile notary?

We can notarize various document types including vehicle deed sales documents for foreign governments, power of attorney documents, affidavits, loan documents, real estate documents, and many other legal documents requiring notarization.

How do I schedule a mobile notary appointment?

Contact us by phone at (571) 306-3551 or email at matthew@precisivebooks.com to schedule your mobile notary appointment. We’ll work with you to find a convenient time and location.

How much does a mobile notary cost?

My mobile notary rate starts at $35—that’s the travel fee—plus $10 per notarized document. I come to your home or office on weekends when most notary offices are closed. Most appointments include 2–3 stamps, so a typical visit runs $55–$65 total. There are no weekend surcharges or hidden fees.

Why is it more than a courthouse notary?

A courthouse notary costs less because you go to them on a weekday during business hours. My service is for clients who need a notary on a Saturday or Sunday, at their own home or office, without taking time off work. If weekday availability works for your timeline, the Fairfax County courthouse notary is a budget alternative.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, check, and major credit/debit cards.

What should I bring to a mobile notary appointment?

  • A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID, or military ID)
  • The unsigned documents to be notarized
  • Any required witnesses (I’ll tell you in advance if your document needs them)
  • Payment

How far in advance should I book?

Earlier in the week is best for locking in a specific time slot, but last-minute weekend appointments often open up. Just call (571) 306-3551 and I’ll let you know what’s available.
